Yulin Festival

We are a few weeks away from the Yulin Festival which is always a big controversy and it is something I wanted to talk about. I am seeing a lot of petitions floating around and whenever they do I normally support it because I am against these events and I hope that someday it comes to an end.

I am not a vegetarian or a vegan but I sure hope that someday I will be. I strongly oppose any sort of animal cruelty and I want to make more of an effort supporting this by becoming at least a vegetarian someday. Growing up eating meat makes the transition hard especially with others around you who continue to eat meat, transitioning towards vegetarian can be difficult.

The reason I am against this event is because of the cruelty these people commit towards dogs. It’s inhumane and not something to celebrate publicly. Many argue that this is their tradition and it needs to be respected. This is where I disagree because even though its a tradition, the way they treat these dogs is disturbing.

Ones who do accept this will argue that other cultures such as the ones in America do the same thing with pigs, cows, and chickens. This is true, I am not arguing that and what Americans do to these animals is something I disagree with as well and is also inhumane with how these animals are treated and hopefully more action is taken towards stopping it as well.

What I am about to say though is what most people get irritated with and that’s the fact that the Yulin Festival’s actions towards dogs are this serious of a problem because dogs are simply pets. Now, most will argue that people in Asia don’t see it that way and it works the same way as how Americans act with pigs, cows, and chickens. The issue here is none of these animals are considered pets really and that’s why it’s not the same. Dogs are seen as pets worldwide whether you personally agree or not.

Overall, whether you agree with the event because you support it because its culture related or that maybe you have no issues with dogs being eaten. One thing that should be stopped is the inhumane ways all of these animals whether its a dog, pig, chicken, cow, etc are treated before death is what’s really messed up. Yes, they end up dying in this event no matter what but to torture them leading up to death is just wrong. Human beings need to have respect for animals because they have every right to be on this earth as we do. Hopefully, these inhumane acts are put to a stop altogether at some point and that we begin to show more respect towards animals.

Feel free to comment or contact me regarding this issue. I admire any feedback or chance to communicate with others on this topic.

Opinion blogging

I enjoy writing a lot and I have now decided to start my own blog. I will be writing mostly opinion pieces on my perspective of something. I am starting this blog as a way to clear my mind of thoughts towards events taking place around the world. My blogs will talk about politics, human rights, animal rights, etc. Some may not agree with what I have to say and that’s okay. I want to be able to collaborate with everyone regardless of how they view things and be able to have a civil conversation on many topics and learn from one another. I am also thinking about starting a podcast as well, but I will see how this goes first. Enjoy my blogs and if you have any recommendations for topics to talk about feel free to contact me.
